About Me

Anthony Binns has a history degree from King’s College, London University. He is the author of The Funniest Man in London, the first ever comprehensive biography of the Edwardian impresario, satirist and composer H.G. Pélissier, published in 2022 by Edgerton. He has contributed articles and reviews to various historical and theatrical periodicals, including Gambit, Plays & Players, Event, The Call Boy (the quarterly magazine of the British Music Hall Society) and Theatre Notebook (the quarterly magazine of the Society for Theatre Research). His special areas of interest are theatrical history, particularly as regards popular entertainment, the music hall and musical theatre in all its various forms.
